Shane is currently an Executive Chef for a Premier League football team. He was previously a consulting chef to a number of individual athletes in Europe.
Shane believes in the power of food to fuel performance. The right nutrition at the right time is the key to achieving any goal. Since 2022 he has worked with athletes at the highest level to fuel their performance.
He collaborates with nutritionists and coaches to design recipes and create meals that map to an athlete’s nutritional and energy needs throughout the day. And as a Michelin trained chef with experience in the best restaurants on multiple continents, he knows how to make every meal taste amazing!
Shane undertook his apprenticeship in Australia, learning his trade from some of the country’s best chefs, including David Pugh and Philip Johnson. They taught him respect for ingredients from farm to plate, how to combine flavours honestly, and how to work hard in some of the most challenging workplace environments on the planet. Shane travelled through China, Turkey and Europe to expand his experience, then settled in the UK. He worked alongside Daniel Clifford at 2 Michelin star level, and has led award winning teams in country inns, fine dining restaurants and gastro pubs.
After taking up running, Shane was inspired by the power of food to unlock high performance and quality recovery. He undertook further studies in gut health and sports nutrition, adopting the moniker of “The Gut Chef”. He uses his food experience and skills to transform meals into a power-house of nutrition. Undertaking an assignment in Italy in 2022 with a champion cyclist, he tailored healthy and delicious plant-based menus to meet the athlete’s demanding training and racing schedule. He became hooked on the thrill of translating nutrition to the plates of high performers.
